Shana Marchio Director, Federal Affairs & Communications

Shana Marchio is director of Federal Affairs & Communications at KBS where she heads the firm’s D.C. presence and oversees the company’s federal affairs and strategic communications practice.

Previously, as communications director for former U.S. Senator Kit Bond, Marchio was a key member of the senior leadership team, serving as the Senator’s national spokesperson and chief media strategist for the Senator’s personal office and committees, including his position as Vice Chairman of the Intelligence Committee. In this role, she developed and implemented a strategic national media and messaging strategy and managed all aspects of the Senator’s home state press and communications.

After Senator Bond co-authored The Next Front: Southeast Asia and the Road to Global Peace with Islam, Marchio promoted the book nationwide including an appearance on the Daily Show. Marchio has partnered with nationally recognized forums, such as the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Heritage Foundation, Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, National Press Club, United States Institute of Peace, Brookings Institution, and the Bipartisan Policy Center.

Her experience includes working with national media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, New York Times, the Today Show, Fox News Sunday, NewsHour, ABC News, CNBC’s Squawk Box, and the Daily Show.

For the critical 2016 election season Marchio was chosen to serve on the board of WUFPAC (Women Under Forty PAC), a nonpartisan political action committee committed to helping elect more young women to public office. Elected twice by her peers to the board of the U.S. Senate Press Secretary Association, Marchio remains an active member of the bipartisan organization.

Marchio began her career in the Columbia and Washington, D.C. offices of former Missouri Congressman Kenny Hulshof. A native of Jefferson City, Marchio is a graduate of Truman State University. She currently resides with her husband and son in Arlington, VA.
